Stained, Discoloured, Or Dull-Looking Teeth

If you are happy with your smile but would like to brighten it up, all you may need is a whitening treatment to get rid of those stains. Whitening is a safe and effective means of returning your teeth (or even just one tooth) to their original dazzle.

How it works

Our teeth whitening procedure has been perfected through many years of experience to ensure you get the whitest teeth possible through a method that is the safest possible. We use a special covering to ensure that your gums are very well protected before one of our dental professionals applies our specially formulated hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. This hydrogen peroxide gel works by breaking down molecular bonds that make up stains on your teeth. We then combine this with Philips Zoom White Speed Whitening LED Accelerator which intensifies the action of the gel and makes the entire process work even faster and more effectively which from just one session can improve whitening results by up to 40%.

FAQ

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a process of bleaching teeth that has the benefit of lightening any discolouration of enamel and dentin.

What causes tooth discolouration?

Tooth discolouration has a number of possible causes. The ageing process and the consumption of substances that stain e.g. coffee, red wine and tobacco are the most common.

Who will benefit from teeth whitening?

Most people can benefit, however treatment may not be effective in some cases. Through oral examination and diagnosis a dentist will establish whether a candidate is viable or not. The teeth whitening process is best suited for patients who have strong, healthy teeth that are discoloured.

Is teeth whitening common?

There are more people than you would imagine that opt to have their teeth whitened. Having a brighter, whiter smile can improve confidence and with our straight forward process it's easier and faster than ever before.

Is the process safe?

Yes! Clinical studies have shown that whitening teeth under the supervision of a qualified dentist is safe and is often considered the safest cosmetic dental procedure that you can undertake. The process is not suitable for children under 13 and pregnant/lactating women.

How does it work?

Hydrogen peroxide is the active ingredient, which is light-activated, and as it is broken down, oxygen is released and enters the enamel and dentin. This helps by bleaching coloured substances without changing the actual structure of the teeth.

How is the exposure to light controlled?

All soft tissue in and around the mouth is protected, and the clinician is will monitor the procedure to ensure exposed skin/tissue is protected. All patients will also be required to wear protective eyewear. Patients who suffer from light sensitivity, or are undergoing Psoralen+UV Radiation therapy or other photo-chemotherapy, or anyone with melanoma, are not suitable for the procedure.
